Summary

This policy explains what Sound Decibel Meter stores, what it sends, and what it does not do. The microphone signal is analyzed on your device and is never uploaded. Audio is never recorded. Your settings and noise logs stay in your browser. The site runs no analytics and shows no advertising today. The main exception is the contact form, which sends the details you type to us when you choose to send a message.

Microphone and audio

The meter reads the microphone signal in your browser and analyzes it on your device. Your browser asks for permission before the meter can use the microphone.

Audio is never uploaded to the site and is never recorded as audio. A noise log keeps one level per second, and nothing else from the microphone. The browser's voice processing (echo cancellation, noise suppression, and automatic gain) would distort levels, so the meter turns it off and shows a warning if the browser keeps it on.

What is stored in your browser

The site keeps two kinds of data in your browser only:

DataWhere it is keptWhat it holds
SettingslocalStorage, key meter-settingsWeighting (dBA or dBC) and the Calibration Offset
Noise logsIndexedDB, database sound-meterThe newest 10 logs, each with one level per second and gap markers

Noise logs are never uploaded, so the site holds no copy of them.

How to delete it

  • To delete one noise log, remove it from the meter. You can download it as CSV first.
  • To delete everything, clear this site's data in your browser settings. That removes the settings and all noise logs.

Contact form

The contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. When you send it, the site emails those details to the site operator through Resend, an email delivery service. The form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check, to block automated submissions.

The site does not store messages in a database. The operator keeps each message in their mailbox for as long as needed to reply to you. We use your details only to reply to your message. They are not sold, and they are not shared for any other purpose, apart from Resend, which delivers the message, and Turnstile, which may check the form for bots.

Server logs

The server that delivers the site may keep standard request logs, such as your IP address and browser user agent. The server keeps these logs for security and to operate the site. They are kept for a limited time.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies of its own. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie for security.

Analytics and advertising

The site runs no analytics and shows no advertising today. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change is made.

Children

The site has no accounts and no sign-up. The only place it asks for personal details is the contact form. If you believe a child has sent personal details through that form, use the contact form to tell us.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the way the site handles data changes, and we will change the date at the top when we do.
